- נַוְוטָאm. (nauta, ναύτμς) seaman, sailor.Pl. נַוְוטִים, נַוְוטִין. Gen. R. s. 12 ואח״כ הוא מעמיד עליה נ׳ and finally (when the ship is finished) he places sailors upon her; ונוטיהם ונַוְוטֵיהֶם כתיב vnoṭehem (Is. 42:5) allows the reading vnavṭchem (and their (the heavens) sailors); Yalk. Is. 314 חמוטי׳ (corr. acc.).Chald. pl. נַוְוטַיָּא. Koh. R. to III, 6.
